Hey Voice This! fam 👋🏼
We're back (briefly)! We wanted to make sure you all had the latest about what we're working on, even if it meant publishing a shorter-than-usual newsletter issue.
Did you miss us? Because we sure missed this! Our newsletter is one of the more humbling and challenging of the podcast-related endeavors. Although, it’s also been one of the more rewarding ones.
It’s hard to write a newsletter about conversation design. Period. But it’s been especially hard to write about the field of conversation design in this new era of RizzGPT and fast advances in generative AI because of the stark contrast between the life of a conversation designer and the technology that is and has already been learning for several years. It’s hard as a designer to get excited about things like LLMs— when in your day-to-day life, you’re still manually updating bot prompts in excel.
How do we resolve the conflicts, as an industry, between where we are and where we want to go? This has always been an issue within conversation design, but it’s more visible now. These days, if you’re not getting laid off, then you’re worrying about AI automating you out of a job. How do we keep conversation designers inspired long-term for them to want to learn more about Gen AI?
Personally, we’re optimistic about the future of design, but we can’t skip steps in the process. We can’t immediately leapfrog to the idealized, witty, and hyper-personalized use cases of sending messages in the style of Shakespeare (side eye), when we haven’t even dug deep into the research to know what people want from the technology, what is attainable, and where we can truly win. It’s not enough to embed a ChatGPT derived bot onto your website and call it a day.
On a more positive note, we wanted to let you know officially that Season 2 of Voice This! Podcast is underway! As a preview, here are some of the topics we’ll be discussing for season 2. Let us know which ones you’re excited about! 😊
Stay tuned for season 2 of Voice This! Podcast! If you subscribe, you’ll find out all breaking news about our new season and guest interviews before the rest of the internet does.
The Team Says Hi 💜
It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a team to run a podcast. In this day and age, if your podcast isn’t on social media or doesn’t have show notes, then by the modern definition of creating content: it doesn’t exist.
Voice This! recently formed a v-team to keep churning out the best and most relevant content possible. Meet the team!
Millani Jayasingkam - Podcast Host & Creator
Vivian Qi Fu - Podcast Show Notes Writer
P.J. Rodriguez - Podcast Video Editor
Elaine Anzaldo - Podcast Social Media Manager

Voice This! Podcast is now on YouTube! We're still in the process of uploading all of season 1, but episode 1 is ready to watch 👀
One more update: Voice This! has a YouTube channel now! If listening to podcasts (audio only) isn’t your thing, we may have a solution for you. Every episode (besides episode 1 because our guest was camera off) will be uploaded to our channel as a video. Yes, this means you’ll actually be able to SEE the interview and WATCH how our guests tell their story and share their expertise!
This video content will also be POR for season 2 and all subsequent seasons. It’s been a mountain of work to convert our episodes into videos, and we really could not have done it without our new team member and loyal podcast fan, P.J. Rodriguez!
Thanks a million P.J. 🙏🏼
Audience Q&A 💌 with {special guest}!
Stay tuned for our next issue where we'll be interviewing a special guest and CxD friend working on the finance side of things! Any guesses who it is? 😉
Thanks for Reading This! 🥰
